Can you introduce us to your studio?

Absolutely! Studio 40E opened its doors on November 1st, 2022. We’re a photography studio rental that also offers workshops for photographers. The name is really special to me. I opened the studio the year I turned 40 years old, and the E stands for Elizabeth - the middle name I share with my mother and daughter.

What inspired you to open your studio?

The story really starts with my husband! He’s a techy kind of guy, very much into fancy gadgets and toys. The blogs were buzzing about a new Sony camera that was a beast of a little pocket camera. So he bought it! And I think it sat in the box for 6 months before I came across it while tidying up the house and decided to take a look. At the time, I was a mommy to a 3-year old little boy, and pregnant with my daughter. I thought to myself, ‘How hard could it be to take those pictures with blurry backgrounds? Let’s give it a go”. I hopped on YouTube, found a tutorial or two, and by the end of that day, I had taken a few pretty decent pictures of my adorable son, Isaiah. I was ecstatic! I spent the next few weeks taking a photography class online, working my way through the modules, and practicing every chance I got. I sometimes scroll back through my Instagram profile to see how my photography developed as my kids grew during that time.
