What inspired you to start your entrepreneur journey?

Honestly, it was Jesus.  I co-owned a boutique back in 2013.  After giving my life to Christ, I quickly closed it down because my goal was only to make money.  I knew I would eventually open another boutique.  I just didn’t know when or why.  The Lord’s timing is always perfect.

You have such a unique boutique name!  What inspired you to name your boutique Pretty Purpose Boutique?

Before I gave my life to Christ, I valued my physical looks way too much.  I cared more about how people saw me and it became my thought process 80% of the time.  After giving my life to Christ, I went through a transition period of trying to find my identity in how Jesus saw me.  It was hard because I didn’t know anything outside of my outward appearance.  He revealed to me that a woman can be pretty but her pretty has purpose.  Since then the words “Pretty Purpose” held on to my heart.  For years, I didn’t know what it meant until I experienced severe health complications after the birth of my youngest son.

After recovering, I sat down and really prayed to God asking, “Why am I here?What is my Purpose?”  It was then placed on my heart to open a women’s clothing boutique called Pretty Purpose Boutique.  I gained 40 lbs after giving birth, and I felt that the last thing I needed to do was open a boutique.  Trusting God, I decided to go for it, and from there, the planning began.  I started to really dive into my “why?” for opening Pretty Purpose Boutique.  What was the real reason for creating such a brand?  This was bigger than me and how I felt about my body.  The reason I created Pretty Purpose Boutique is to Spread God’s word through fashion, while empowering women to be who God created them to be. After engraving that reason on my heart, I set a launch date and said no matter how I look, and no matter how imperfect I think things are, I will open!

How has your faith guided your mission with Pretty Purpose Boutique?

My grandmother sends out daily Bible verses that include her thoughts followed by a prayer. One particular day she stated, "God is constantly using situations in life to teach us how to make choices that benefit the kingdom of God first.  Even if they seem difficult, if we keep our eyes on God, we will come out better on the other side".  I’m doing just that. Understanding that this boutique is bigger than me.  Stepping out in faith and trusting that Jesus will guide me along the way.

Is there a Bible verse that has really motivated you, or helped you when you needed uplifting?

Yes, Psalm 46:5 really holds a special place in my heart.  It states “God is within her, she will not fail”.  It keeps me motivated and uplifted. As long as God is with me, I can’t fail!

Tell us more about the clothing style of Pretty Purpose Boutique?

Here at Pretty Purpose Boutique, we bless our customers with fashion and faith. Our fashionable apparel and accessories are modest with a progressive touch. Showing women that you can be fashionable and cutely covered.  Also, we bless our customers with monthly Bible plans, encouraging affirmations, and monthly giveaways to help women grow more in their relationship with Christ.  Being a faith-based boutique is what I feel sets us apart from others, which alone makes me so proud brand-wise.

Are you more of a dress or jumpsuit style woman?

Being a mom of three boys, I must say that I am now a jumpsuit style woman, so I can look cute while also running after my boys, lol.  I love a good dress too, especially for date nights with my husband.

Are there any challenges you've had to overcome as a CEO?

The road hasn’t been easy.  There have been both high and low days.  A constant battle within myself to keep going is the biggest challenge.  My supportive husband and sister are always encouraging me to not give up.  I also remind myself that Pretty Purpose Boutique was created for more than just a profit.  This business was created to bring more women closer to Christ!  That’s exactly what keeps me going.

Can you leave our readers with a Spiritual tip that can motivate them when personal challenges might arise in their lives?

Pray and trust in the Lord, even in challenging times.  Consistently spending time with Jesus when things feel good will help you to continue to go to Him when things don’t feel so good.  God never promised us an easy life, but in Isaiah 41:13 he did promise that He will help us.  God will use our difficult times to help us grow and learn to depend on Him in our everyday lives.

What are some words of advice you can give to future entrepreneurs who want to start a boutique?

If you're considering launching a boutique, ask yourself, "Why should this boutique exist?"  If your answer is to make money, then dig deeper to find your purpose.  Simply include Jesus on your business journey.  Partnering with Jesus is such a beautiful and humbling experience.  Once you have made the decision to be Kingdom driven, you simply will not be able to imagine doing business without Him.  Since becoming a Kingdom Driven Business owner, I have really enjoyed the person I’ve become in the process.

Outside of your business, what are some other hobbies that you enjoy?

Outside of Pretty Purpose Boutique, I love creating jumbo marquee letters and numbers. This is actually something I haven’t shared just yet, but I’m currently in the process of creating a business for that as well.  I’m excited to see where God takes that business venture as well.
