What inspired you to start your photography journey?
I feel like it's typical for every photographer to say that they have always had a desire to learn more about photography for the majority of their life, and I would be no different. Something about capturing what is in front of me as I see it started in high school. However, it wasn’t until I became a mother that I pursued this journey. When my oldest daughters began to race through milestone after milestone, it was as though I wanted time to freeze. I wanted to remember every moment with them, and I wanted to be able to capture them as I pleased.
It was roughly, 2013-2014, that my husband decided to find my first DSLR camera from a craigslist ad for $175. I was drawn to Nikon mostly because of how it fits in my hands. My late grandmother at that time was struggling through her Alzheimer's and dementia battle, after raising 10 kids of her own as a stay at home mother. I too was a stay at home mother and was finding myself slipping away in boredom feeling stuck at home. This was a motivating factor for my husband to make sure that I was able to break out of a routine of cleaning, cooking every day, and to keep my brain occupied and learning. Many years later, I am now relaunching after a few years of moving around and living our dreams by the beach. I wear many hats, including working in real estate with my husband, and homeschooling our kids. We relocated from Ohio to a brand new area with zero clients. As you can imagine, a fresh clean slate is pretty exciting!
