What inspired you to start your ballet journey?

When I was three years old I told my mom that I wanted to do ballet after watching the TV show “Arthur”. On the TV show, the little sister “DW” started ballet, and that’s when I told my mom I wanted to do it as well. The next week I was enrolled in classes with my first dance teacher, named Dolores Werner, and ironically her initials were “DW”.

How do you think ballet is different from other dance styles?

I was always taught that “ballet is the foundation of dance”. That statement could not be any more true. Ballet class starts out at barre, which gives you an immediate sense of the structure, technique, and etiquette. Ballet technique is extremely specific, which requires repetition and countless hours of practice to improve. The discipline and dedication that is taught from ballet translates itself to other areas of the dancer's life that includes work, school, etc.

What inspired you to start your journey as a dancer?

My mother was a dancer. I was always around my mom when she performed, or when she would teach. My mom was my first dance teacher. She taught me all styles of dance from tap, ballet, theater, jazz. and how to connect with audiences. However, I never thought I would follow in her footsteps as a dancer. I was more into medicine to become a doctor. As I got older, my interest in dance progressed.

When did you begin taking ballet lessons?

I began taking ballet lessons at three years old with my mother. I don't remember taking class, but that's what I've been told.
