Your company "Angelnailz" is a unique name! What was the inspiration behind your company name?

The inspiration behind my company name is my Dad, Angel Baldenegro. It was very important that my name had a meaning to it. Most nail artists I knew of at the time all had the same name, which usually always consisted of the word “nails”, and their own name.  Even though I’m the one behind the desk doing all the work, I wanted to dedicate my journey to someone who meant the world to me.

Unfortunately, my dad passed away when I was 12 years old. It was the most painful time of my life. He was my best friend, he was the most down to earth person, and anyone who knew him knows he was always the funniest person in the room. He loved drawing, and he was so good at it too. I remember we would color in a coloring book when I was little.  His side was so perfect and neat, and mine was of course a mess. Also, he would create these collages with my name right in the middle and draw beautiful pieces of work around it. To finally tap into my artistic ability, and create what I like to call pieces of art on a mini canvas, means so much to me because I just know he would be so proud. Some people do get confused and think my name is Angel, but it gives me the opportunity to tell people who I do this for.

When did you know that you wanted to become a licensed nail tech?

When I started my nail journey I really had no idea how far I wanted to take it. My best friend, Ariana Smalley, gave me the idea of doing nails because she found interest in it first.  I took it a lot further. Once I started to notice how much support I was getting and the potential I had behind my work, I knew I needed to get my license.

How do you find clients for your nail services?

I find clients mainly through word of mouth. Instagram is also another resource I use, but I find word of mouth is more resourceful. Marketing is very important in the nail industry, and putting yourself out there is something you always have to do. I keep business cards with me all the time. If I see someone with nails, then I hand them a card. If I hear people talking about nails, then I’ll hand them a card.

What type of nail designs and styles is your aesthetic for your nail artistry?

I consider myself a very versatile nail artist. I’ve touched base on pretty much every type of design. I do notice most of my clients getting French tip designs very often so I could say I specialize in that specific design, which I’m perfectly fine with doing because I’m very proud of my frenchies. Also, I'm very open to doing any design for my clients. I believe I’m able to adapt to new nail trends really well. I find that it is very important to know what trends are in style at the moment, and stay ready to have all the supplies necessary to achieve the nail set.

Do you sell any nail products on any websites or salons?

Unfortunately, I do not sell any products. It is definitely something I’ve thought of doing, but not at the moment.

Future clients can book with me through Instagram @angelnailz._ which I have my booking site linked to in the bio. I do require every client to read my policy to ensure both of our safety. If any questions pop up, then everyone is more than welcome to send me a direct message. I’ll get back to it as soon as possible.

Fashion and nails go hand and hand! Do you have a favorite outfit and nail design/color that you wear often?

Personally, I wear white and nude short french tips most of the time. I think there’s nothing that doesn’t go with frenchies. Unless it’s my birthday or holiday, I will do something extra to match with my outfit/aesthetic.  There is such a simple and classy look to them that I’m obsessed with and it will never go out of style.

Have you had any challenges growing your company?

I think in this nail industry everyone has their struggles. In the beginning, I believe it is the most difficult because you’re barely figuring out if you even want to take this seriously. I often found myself wondering if all the stress was worth it. Social media was the biggest things for me. I looked at my likes as if they were a rating at one point. It used to tear me up. I started to make reels and videos more. Once I started to see that people really liked them, I made more and more. That’s how I grew my following, by making reels and tutorials. What I found interesting was that the content that I thought wasn’t good enough, I would post it and it would get the most love. It’s a lot of work, but all worth it in the end.

Outside of nail artistry what are some other hobbies that you enjoy?

I love to cook and bake. I love to travel. Food is one of my favorite things on Earth. I love making new recipes I’ve never tried. Also, I love cooking for people. It makes me really happy. I haven’t had the chance to travel much this year, but it’s my favorite thing to do, especially with friends. I believe life is so short we shouldn’t waste it staying in the same city we know.

What inspired you to start Chateau Beauty Studio?

We started the company with people who love art. We see nail art as something splendid and delicate. For us, nails are like a canvas that we bring anywhere and everywhere to express our character. Through delicacy that we pour to the nail enthusiasts, we want our customers to embrace themselves through the beauty of nail art they perceive.

What kind of products and services do you offer with Chateau Beauty Studio?

Our main focus is nail art. We use Korean nail products with a great quality to give the best service for our customers. By doing a partnership with a beauty artist, we also have plenty of various menu items beside nails. We provide another service for lash extension, lash lift, eyebrow architecture, massage, and hand poke tattoo.

Do you have a favorite nail design?

We explore many designs on nail art, especially minimalist and maximalist designs. Minimalist designs are the ones that scream less is more. Maximalist designs can bring out more of the customer’s expression.

Are there any challenges you've had to overcome growing your beauty studio?

First, building the compact team is the key! We believe through great teamwork we can bring a lot of headway for our beauty studio. To shape great teamwork we must get through trials and errors from our human resources. Second, by selling service work, we know that customers that come to us have a lot of different personalities. Therefore, being adaptive to their personality is also another challenge in the service industry.

Can you provide us with a beauty tip to keep the eyebrows and eyelashes healthy?

To keep our eyebrows and eyelashes healthy we recommend using olive oil to massage brows and the eye area . Massage helps to smoothen blood circulation. The olive oil formula can help strengthen the roots by making it thicker and appear healthier.

You have some beautiful reels on Instagram! How has social media helped to expand your company?

We use Tiktok and Instagram to deliver our message through reels and photos. Sometimes we give tips and tricks, or a tutorial to show the audience how beautiful nails can be made in many creative ways. We manage our social media as a platform to provide a community for beauty enthusiasts.

What are some words of advice you can give to future entrepreneurs who want to open a beauty studio?

A clear vision is a must. Through clear vision comes a great team with one goal. Besides, start with a lot of market research to help you understand what kind of market you want to reach out to. Addressed by how you brand your beauty studio, type of designs that you focus on, and price level that you give.

We love doing arts in many forms. Mostly, we enjoy music, jewelry designing, and traveling.  We explore how to express ourselves through fashion, makeup, and especially beauty stuff.
